Cowboys biggest decision heading into the NFL Draft " Inside The Star
"Currently, as of now, the off-ball linebackers are DeMarvion Overshown, Shemar James and Justin Barron, that clearly needs some work. My major issue is that everyone is putting stock into Overshown, and he has played 18 games in three years because of that knee injury, and he has to at least show me that he is able to stay on the field before I buy all the way into him."
"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on the state of the linebacker room. He said they've been trying to work some trades to no avail, but that it's not a guarantee it gets addressed in the trade market. He also mentions the possibility of a rookie playing that role."
"Regardless of what they do in the draft, having a guy like Bobby Wagner or Bobby Okereke in the building for this year can not be any worse than what they currently have going on right now."
"If Ohio State's Sonny Styles somehow in gods green earth falls to the Dallas Cowboys at pick no. 12, so be it, forget I even made this post, but that just is not going to happen."
The Dallas Cowboys are focusing on improving their linebacker position ahead of the NFL draft. Current off-ball linebackers DeMarvion Overshown, Shemar James, and Justin Barron require enhancement. Concerns exist regarding Overshown's injury history. Owner Jerry Jones mentioned unsuccessful trade attempts and the potential for a rookie to fill the role. The suggestion is to sign one of the available free agents, Bobby Wagner or Bobby Okereke, to strengthen the defense. If Ohio State's Sonny Styles is available at pick 12, trading up for him is recommended.
