A George Pickens extension has to be on the team's radar now
"In trading for Quinnen Williams (Logan Wilson, too!) the Cowboys surrendered a second-round pick next year and the better of their two firsts (shout out Micah Parsons) the year after. When you look at the totality of things since the Parsons trade you can argue that the Cowboys have come out of the other side with a plan in hand at long last, and they have some wind in their sails with the salary cap space that they didn't devote to him."
"A fantastic utilization of the team's new salary cap space would be an extension for wide receiver George Pickens. With trades tended to and processed, Pickens has to be the team's new number one task. Part of the reason that Dallas will have to wait until the fourth round after the first in 2026 is Pickens as Dallas spent their third-round pick to get him."
The Dallas Cowboys traded draft capital to acquire Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, surrendering a second-round pick next year and the better of their two first-rounders the following year. The moves created salary cap space previously allocated to Micah Parsons, allowing financial flexibility. The team now faces two first-round picks before the fourth round in 2026 and must both draft accurately and spend to remain competitive in a 2026-2027 contention window. A top priority for cap spending should be extending wide receiver George Pickens, who was acquired with a third-round pick and whose on-field play justifies retaining him.
