Dee, a newly transferred inmate in an overcrowded prison, fights to prove he belongs at the top of the prison hierarchy. After a brawl leads to lockdown and guards surround him, he attacks their plexi shields with extreme self-destructive violence. Dee’s performance is shaped by Tom Blyth’s interest in feral, animal-like behavior, including inspiration from a documentary about cannibal chimpanzees. Taylor, played by David Jonsson, carries deep torment from a past mistake involving drug dealing that resulted in overdoses and a manslaughter charge. Thirteen years of imprisonment has left Taylor burdened by the sacrifice his child must endure, raising questions about whether redemption is still possible.
"“He made a mistake that now means that his young child is having to pay for that mistake as well. There's so much sacrifice that is going through his head.” The unspoken question of whether it's too late"
