Robinhood launches staking for Ethereum and Solana in ongoing crypto expansion | Fortune
""We're proud of the momentum we've seen with staking and especially excited that staking is now available to customers in New York, which has one of the most rigorous regulatory frameworks in the country,""
""These crypto enhancements are strategic chess moves positioning Robinhood for the anticipated transformation of financial infrastructure through blockchain technology and tokenization-particularly with the regulatory clarity we expect under the current administration,""
Robinhood will launch staking for Ethereum and Solana in New York starting Tuesday, allowing customers to earn yield by locking tokens. The company plans to expand staking availability across the United States. Staking rewards users who lock tokens to help operate blockchain networks. In 2023, Kraken agreed to pay $30 million to settle allegations it broke SEC rules by offering staking. The launch reflects a looser regulatory environment under President Donald Trump's administration. Robinhood will also add perpetual futures in Europe and is acquiring a brokerage and crypto platform in Indonesia. The platform has offered Bitcoin and Ethereum trading since 2018 and has expanded its crypto unit this year.
