Haliey 'Hawk Tuah' Welch, known for her viral content, expressed regret over her involvement in the meme coin $HAWK, which went from a $500 million market cap to worthless. Claiming she lacked understanding of cryptocurrency before its launch, Welch indicated that her participation led to significant losses for investors. She clarified that she received only a marketing fee, not any earnings from the coin itself. Welch also mentioned feeling remorseful for misleading investors and promised to be cautious in future ventures. A class action lawsuit has named individuals allegedly involved in the coin's promotion.
"I couldn't tell you how crypto worked the day that coin launched," she said on her podcast Talking Tuah, speaking for the first time about the scandal.
"It makes me feel really bad that they trusted me, and I led them to something that I did not have enough knowledge about."
"I did not make a dime from the coin itself. I got paid a marketing fee," she said.
"And I knew that, but I got talked into it, and I trusted the wrong people."
