K-Pop's Enhypen Loves Corn on Pizza
"Welcome to the Pizza Interview, a new series from The New York Times Cooking where the Q&A has a catch: Our guests have to make pizza. Known for genre-blending hits, dramatic storytelling and powerful performances, Enhypen has become one of K-pop's fastest-rising groups since debuting in 2020, and driven by a devoted fandom, Engene, the group shows no signs of slowing down."
"Do you all still live together? ALL Yeah! And who does most of the cooking? JAY Actually no one. JAKE Shout out to JUNGWON Baemin [a food delivery app]. JAKE We have like Uber Eats but Korean version. We're, like, V-V-V.I.P. We order every day. Do you share your meals together? JAKE We used to, but now it's hard to agree on one menu so we all just get different ones. JAY It's the most peaceful way to solve the problem."
Four members of Enhypen—Heeseung, Jake, Jungwon and Jay—visited the New York Times kitchen studio to make Korean-inspired pies. Enhypen debuted in 2020 and is known for genre-blending hits, dramatic storytelling and powerful performances, supported by a devoted fandom called Engene. The members usually order food for delivery through Baemin, the Korean equivalent of Uber Eats, and often eat separate meals to avoid menu disagreements. Jungwon favors Pizza Hut and bulgogi toppings; Jay prefers corn and Hawaiian; Jake prefers New York–style thin crust and pepperoni. The group lives together and rarely cooks all meals.
