"Scott Hallsworth is a pan-Asian cooking pioneer' with restaurants in Melbourne, St. Tropez, Bodrum, Jeddah, Zermatt, Chamonix, Nairobi, Cape Town, Toronto and London. I first encountered Scott's food at Kurobata, a self-styled rock n' roll izakaya with neon lighting, flight cases strewn artfully around, and AC/DC on the sound system. With outlets on the 6th floor of Harvey Nichols and in the King's Road, Kurobata served Japanese tapas-style street food with an Antipodean edge."
"On entering 100 Wardour Street, it's clear that the place has been Freak-Scened. From pink neon signage in the window to indie favourites and Johnny Cash playing on the sound system, the cavernous space has a clear Hallsworth identity within the 100 Wardour St frame, featuring marble walls, light wood ceilings, and concrete floors. There is a feature central bar, nightclub lighting and playful pink bubble glass light fittings."
Scott Hallsworth is a pan-Asian cooking pioneer with restaurants across Melbourne, St. Tropez, Bodrum, Jeddah, Zermatt, Chamonix, Nairobi, Cape Town, Toronto and London. He gained recognition with Kurobata, a rock'n'roll izakaya that served Japanese tapas-style street food with an Antipodean edge and bold textures. He launched The Freak Scene after leaving Kurobata and operated sites in Farringdon, Parsons Green and Soho. Freak Scene now occupies 100 Wardour Street in Soho in residency until November under Evolv Restaurants. 100 Wardour Street retains music-club heritage and features marble walls, light wood ceilings, concrete floors, a central bar, nightclub lighting, pink neon and bubble-glass fittings. The Freaky Iced Tea cocktail mixes Belvedere organic vodka, Leblon cachaca, Peach, Mure lemon and Fever-Tree ginger beer.
