With a New Name, Watershed Coffee Roasters Reaches Bend
""Our space has a lot of the character of an old building, lots of wood and rustic charm. We didn't want to shake things up too much,""
""We feel fortunate to operate in such a unique space in the heart of 'Old Bend'," said Getman. "On a summer day we can seat probably 50 people in the yard. There's always lots of dogs and kiddos enjoying the huge backyard, too. It's a special location and we recognize how lucky we are to run our business here.""
Watershed Coffee Roasters in Bend rebranded from the Bend location of Looney Bean Coffee and updated signage, merchandise, and retail packaging. The cafe installed a Valenta 7 electric fluid‑bed roaster and now roasts coffees on site for a steady retail supply. Customers can watch roasting behind a live‑edge counter, and juniper slabs from a local sawmill form roastery work surfaces to match the rustic vibe. The shop occupies a century‑old cottage with cedar shake siding and a spacious backyard overlooking the Deschutes River and Cascade volcanoes, with seating for roughly 50 on summer days. The location has specialty coffee roots dating to 2005 and changed ownership in 2013 when Sarah Jordan and Cory Getman purchased the cafe.
