"Coffee is one of the most exciting and fast-evolving consumer categories,"
"The agile, modular setup of our innovation lab enables us to rapidly respond to consumer insights and quickly scale new flavors and formats - whether hot, cold, wet or dry - to full factory production."
"rapid-scale"
JDE Peet's opened a revamped innovation laboratory in Utrecht to accelerate development and global scale-up of new coffee products, manufacturing processes and packaging. The Utrecht lab reinforces the city's role as JDE Peet's global R&D hub and complements a separate Joure facility focused on extraction and freeze-drying; the two investments total approximately $9.8 million. The opening coincides with Keurig Dr Pepper's planned $18 billion acquisition of JDE Peet's and the expected formation of Global Coffee Co., which would manage more than 50 brands across soluble, single-serve, extracts, cold brew, ground, whole-bean and specialty formats. The modular lab design enables rapid-scale development across formats and has produced non-dairy creamers with improved nutritional profiles, roasting refinements to reduce energy use, and multiple packaging developments.
