Germany's Cup&Cino Group Acquires Swiss Brewer Maker Tone
"Founded in 2017 by industry veteran Holger Welz, Tone has built its reputation on boilerless, heat-on-demand commercial brewing systems emphasizing energy efficiency and minimalist industrial design. After launching the now-defunct Tone 02 in 2019, the company revealed its striking, minimalist Tone 03 single-cup or small-batch brewer in 2021. That was followed by a larger batch brewer, the Tone 04, in 2023."
"Germany's Cup&Cino Group has acquired Swiss manufacturer Tone, bringing the boilerless brewing equipment company under a four-brand umbrella that includes Cup&Cino, BaristaOne and Latte Art Factory. The deal includes the Tone brand as well as its global distribution network, according to announcement from the companies on Nov. 21. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Tone's existing staff will be integrated into Cup&Cino Group, and the brand's headquarters will move to Cup&Cino's base in Hövelhof, Germany."
Cup&Cino Group bought Swiss manufacturer Tone, adding boilerless, heat-on-demand brewing technology to a portfolio that already includes Cup&Cino, BaristaOne and Latte Art Factory. The acquisition transfers the Tone brand and its global distribution network to Cup&Cino, with financial terms undisclosed. Tone staff will be integrated into Cup&Cino Group and the brand headquarters will relocate to Cup&Cino's base in Hövelhof, Germany, while distribution channels and customer relationships remain in place. Tone developed the Tone 02, Tone 03 single-cup/small-batch brewer, the larger Tone 04 batch brewer, a Tone Nitro unit, and a prototype Tone Touch E espresso machine.
