Cosori Shakes Up Automated Home Pourovers with the Juni Brewer
Cosori introduced the Juni, its first automatic coffee brewer, aimed at specialty coffee with advanced controls and connectivity. The brewer was revealed at World of Coffee San Diego and is priced at a $299 MSRP, with preorders available for $199. The Juni targets home users who want cafe-like consistency, and it can also fit light-duty cafe use such as slow bars or display stations. The companion app enables programming and sharing brew profiles, including brew ratio, water temperature, bloom time, and number of pours. Users can set pour pattern and flow rate for up to 10 pours, using included conical or basket filter holders. The system rotates the filter holder while the spout moves laterally to create spiral, circular, or straight pours, while a close brew bed supports laminar water flow and an oscillation feature provides controlled agitation.
"We've actually received a lot of great feedback from roasters saying that their customers will say, 'hey, it doesn't taste the same at home as it does in the cafe,'" Cosori Project Manager Alysa Hu told Daily Coffee News. "They think that this is really going to solve the problem of that inconsistency.""
"In addition to brew ratio, water temperature, bloom time and number of pours, the Juni app lets users dictate the pour pattern and flow rate of up to 10 pours into either a conical filter holder for single-cup or 2-cup brews or a basket-shaped filter for larger batches. Both are included with the machine."
"The machine rotates the filter holder while its spout moves laterally to perform any combination of spiral, circular and straight pours. "A lot of people have expressed interest in facing it outwards towards the customer, because it's kind of a show. It's like an open theater where you're actually seeing everything happening," Hu told DCN. "They think that it's fun to watch.""
"The brew bed sits close to the spout to maintain a laminar stream of water, improving temperature stability and control over turbulence. Intentional agitation comes from an oscillation feature that gently rattles the filter holder for settling or agitation. Users can control the duration and intensity both before and during brewing."
