Brazil's Expocacer to Host First Auction Through Blockchain-Based Coffee Chain
"Large Brazilian coffee cooperative Expocacer is preparing to host the first online auction on its new Coffee Chain trading platform, offering traceable specialty lots to roasters and importers. Set for Dec. 11-12, the online-only Essências by Expocacer auction features lots from the cooperative's Essências program, which supports small- and medium-sized members in producing higher-value specialty coffees. The event is marketed to roasters and importers worldwide, with registration open to any company or individual in the coffee sector."
"The auction represents a major step in the rollout of Coffee Chain, the digital trading platform led by Expocacer and Brazilian tech firm AIDDA, which specializes in blockchain-based solutions for the agricultural sector. The cooperative says the tailored system tracks production, inventory and sales data - logging each event on the blockchain - along with certificates and designation-of-origin verifications. The platform also offers tools for contract negotiations and management, according to Expocacer."
Expocacer will run an online-only Essências auction on Dec. 11-12 featuring traceable specialty lots aimed at roasters and importers worldwide. The auction will offer lots from the Essências program, which supports small- and medium-sized members in producing higher-value specialty coffees, and is expected to include high-scoring microlots from the Cerrado Mineiro region with farm-level traceability and documentation. Coffee Chain is a digital trading platform developed with AIDDA that logs production, inventory and sales on the blockchain, stores certificates and origin verifications, and provides contract negotiation and management tools. The platform is supported by logistics hubs in the U.S. and UK and serves more than 40 export destinations.
