The Chicago White Sox released infielder Brandon Drury from his minor league contract following a fractured left thumb. Drury had displayed impressive performance with a .410 batting average, three home runs, and 11 RBIs during spring training. Additionally, the team claimed right-hander Mike Vasil from the Tampa Bay Rays and made other roster adjustments, including optioning Gus Varland to Triple-A Charlotte and placing Prelander Berroa on the 60-day injured list after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Vasil, who turned 25 on Wednesday, is looking for his big league debut. He was selected by the New York Mets in the eighth round of the 2021 amateur draft out of the University of Virginia.
The 24-year-old Berroa had Tommy John surgery last week. The procedure was performed by Dr. Keith Meister.
