The Chicago White Sox have announced that Justin Ishbia will become a significant investor and has an option to acquire a controlling interest in the team between 2029-2033. Current owner Jerry Reinsdorf will remain the primary decision-maker until that time. Ishbia, who is the second largest shareholder in the Phoenix Suns, will initially provide capital to help manage the team's debts and operations. Reinsdorf has expressed his commitment to leading the franchise as long as possible.
Under the agreement, White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf will have the option to sell controlling interest in the team to Ishbia from 2029-33.
Having the incredible opportunity to own the Chicago White Sox and be part of Major League Baseball for nearly 50 years has been a life-changing experience, said Reinsdorf.
