While that combination of decent power and speed with a respectable 9.9% walk rate was encouraging, Kelenic was held back in a big way by strikeouts. His 31.7% strikeout rate would've been the fourth-highest in the majors that year if he had enough plate appearances to qualify, just ahead of Teoscar Hernandez and Eugenio Suarez"

Five years into his MLB career, Kelenic has struggled to sustain major league success. After difficult offensive seasons in 2021–22, he posted a .253/.327/.419 line and 110 wRC+ in 2023 but struck out at a 31.7% rate. Atlanta gave him regular playing time in 2024, yielding a 87 wRC+, 29.6% strikeout rate, and a .286 on-base percentage.
