White Sox call up Elko, claim Gomez off waivers

The Chicago White Sox called up infielder Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte, where he had an impressive batting average of .348, along with 10 home runs and 23 RBIs over 31 games. Elko, drafted in the 10th round of the 2022 draft, made his debut against the Miami Marlins, batting eighth in the lineup. In a related move, the team designated Nick Maton for assignment and also added pitcher Yoendrys Gómez, who struggled earlier this season with a 6.28 ERA, but has potential from his time with the Yankees and Dodgers.
