The ACL season has commenced with little fanfare or media coverage, highlighting a broader trend of MLB neglecting minor leagues. In a recent game, the ACL Brewers defeated the ACL White Sox 7-6 in a seven-inning contest. The lack of promotion and visibility for rookie leagues is concerning, especially as talented players, such as Adrian Gil, emerge from these teams. Gil showed impressive performance in this game, nearly accomplishing a rare cycle despite time constraints and unclear rules that seem to be changing regularly.
The ACL season seemed to sneak up on everybody, given that as of this writing there hasn't been a single word published about the season out there.
For a sport that has shrunk its minor leagues ostensibly to save money, MLB sure does sweep its Stateside rookie league into a corner.
It was a surprise to me when I clicked today's White Sox minor league boxes and saw the ACL in action!
Adrian Gil was a bad, bad, bad man in the DSL in 2023 and took it on the chin his first year Stateside, last summer.
