Daniel Wright, a product of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, successfully transitioned from football and baseball at SB-L to the Wisconsin football team and then to baseball with Iowa Western and Houston, eventually concluding his collegiate career with the Hawkeyes. In his lone season at Iowa, Wright achieved a 3.41 ERA and a 2-2 record, striking out 20 batters in 29 innings. His talent was recognized when he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox as the first pick of the tenth round, becoming the second Iowa player chosen in the draft this year.
