Jerry Reinsdorf and Justin Ishbia reached a long-term investment agreement that creates a pathway for Ishbia to obtain a future controlling interest in the White Sox. Ishbia will make capital infusions as a limited partner in 2025 and 2026 to pay down existing debt and support ongoing operations. The agreement allows Reinsdorf to sell controlling interest to Ishbia from 2029–33, with Ishbia holding an option to acquire control after 2034; limited partners would have the opportunity to sell at that time. No sale can occur before 2029 and there is no assurance a transaction will happen. Guaranteed contracts and option decisions leave modest committed payroll, and arbitration/roster questions remain, including non-tender candidates Wilson and Hill.
