After suffering a 7-1 loss, the Jays saw a turnaround with Jose Berrios on the mound. He provided the team with a much-needed lengthy start, allowing just one run over 7.2 innings while striking out five batters. The Jays quickly got on the scoreboard with an early home run from Bo Bichette and added further runs in the second inning. Although the offense sputtered later in the game, a late home run from Vlad secured the win as they aimed to build on this momentum.
The Jays needed length from Jose Berrios today, and they got it. He threw only 98 pitches to go 7.2, allowing one run on two hits, three walks and a hit batter while striking out five.
Berrios returned for a 1-2-3 seventh. He struck out the first two batters in the eighth before a walk to Ryan Noda ended his day.
