Josh Naylor was scratched from the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup against the Chicago White Sox due to right shoulder discomfort, leaving the team with no definitive word on his condition. Eugenio Suarez also missed the game after taking a fastball to the hand, but X-rays were negative. Assistant GM Amiel Sawdaye noted the injuries come at a tough time for the team, especially with the recent addition of Corbin Carroll to the injured list due to a fractured wrist. The team is managing multiple player injuries amid the season.
Naylor and Suarez have provided the punch to the middle of Arizona's lineup, and their most recent ailments come at an inopportune time for both the players and the club.
Those things are hard to say," assistant general manager Amiel Sawdaye said. "I think the last couple we've seen with Gabi (Moreno) and Corbin (Carroll), they got hit in the hand and it just didn't respond very well.
Geno might be the toughest player in the major leagues. He's one of the toughest that I've ever been around.
But he is gonna have to go out there and try it out and see how much pain he's in.
