The Chicago White Sox are promoting 23-year-old pitching prospect Grant Taylor for their series against the Astros. Taylor, who stands 6-foot-3 and was drafted second overall by the White Sox in 2023, has shown impressive performance in Double-A Birmingham. In 2025, he allowed only three earned runs in 17.1 innings and has recently excelled in the bullpen, pitching 9.1 innings without giving up a run. General manager Chris Getz highlighted Taylor's strong command and potential for a future starting role, drawing parallels to Garrett Crochet's successful transition from reliever to starter.
Taylor began the 2025 season in the starting rotation, allowing just three earned runs across 17.1 innings, while striking out 19 batters and walking 10.
"Every time [Taylor] pitches, I'm pretty excited to read the reports or look at video from the night prior," Getz said Friday in Chicago.
