The Chicago White Sox are closely monitoring the innings pitched by their young starters, many of whom are returning from injuries. Pitching Coach Ethan Katz highlighted the importance of managing their workloads, especially for players like Davis Martin, Sean Burke, and Jonathan Cannon, who have recent injury histories. The team aims to balance performance with health by potentially pulling pitchers early and providing additional rest days. This strategy helps ensure they can continue delivering quality innings throughout the season without reaching unsustainable pitch counts.
A lot of the guys, Burke, Shane, they didn't have the longest season last year. And then Davis coming back from Tommy John, having a shorter season as well.
They've been going out there and giving us six quality innings over and over and over again, which is great from a standpoint, but when you're looking at getting through a season, they're gonna be at 180, 190 innings, which is not an intended target.
