Angels blown out by White Sox in season opener
Briefly

The Angels' struggles continued on Opening Day with an 8-1 loss to the White Sox, marking their 11th loss in the last 12 season openers. Despite a quality start from pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, the team managed only five hits and didn't score until the ninth inning. Manager Ron Washington expressed confidence in the lineup, but the team's lack of offensive performance raised concerns, especially following a weak spring training. The Angels still hold the record for the longest playoff drought in the majors since they last qualified in 2014.
"Of course, it's disappointing," O'Hoppe said. "You go into it with expectations. ... When things don't go how you want to, I feel like that's when you get put to the test."
"With the guys we've got in that lineup, I think a lot is going to happen before this year is over," Manager Ron Washington said.
The Angels managed just five hits, only two after the second inning. They didn't score until Logan O'Hoppe homered in the ninth.
The Angels still own the longest current playoff drought in the majors and fell for the 11th time in their last 12 openers.
