Mark Buehrle received his statue, and the 2005 White Sox reunited to celebrate their World Series victory's 20th anniversary. A.J. Pierzynski expressed that Ozzie Guillen’s No. 13 should also be honored, as he is the only living manager who led the team to a World Series win. Despite the reunion weekend, there was no announcement regarding Guillen's number retirement. Pierzynski highlighted Guillen's significant contributions to the team, stating that he deserves this recognition. Guillen expressed hope that his number will eventually be retired by the organization.
"We've got to get Ozzie next," A.J. Pierzynski said Friday. "We've got to figure out a way to get Ozzie next."
"I don't know what's taken so long," Pierzynski told the Sun-Times. "It's something he deserves. For pretty much a lifelong member of the White Sox, he's done a lot of stuff that nobody else [has]."
"I hope they retire my number. They should," Guillen said Friday. "I talk to Jerry [Reinsdorf] every day, and I never talk about that."
