The Colorado Rockies have dismissed hitting coach Hensley Meulens following a poor start to the 2025 MLB season, bringing in former manager Clint Hurdle as his replacement. General manager Bill Schmidt cited the team's offensive failures, ranking last in wRC+ and leading the majors in strikeout rates. Hurdle, who has extensive experience with many players from his previous roles, is expected to revitalize the struggling offense. With a current record of 3-15, the Rockies are looking for a turnaround to escape a damaging streak and improve their performance after two consecutive seasons of over 100 losses.
"We haven't produced offensively," Rockies general manager Bill Schmidt said, per MLB.com. "It's been a struggle so far. We're looking to change the voice a little bit here with Clint."
"It's been a struggle from day one with the strikeouts and the lack of production," Schmidt continued. "We think this move is going to help. Clint is the right person at the right time..."
