Ian Happ, a Pittsburgh-area native and the Cubs’ longest-tenured position player, leads the team in power numbers. His left-field play limits opponents to singles on balls that ricochet off the walls more than any left fielder the writer has seen. Happ follows a leadoff principle requiring the leadoff man to be on base once per game. Pete Crow-Armstrong has been leading off lately and is on pace for about 60 walks, roughly triple last year’s total.
