The Cubs went 4-5 on challenges while the White Sox went 5-7, producing a 75% overturned rate, well above the league’s 54% mark. Beyond challenged calls, missed calls were far more significant. Home plate umpire Chris Segal missed a season-high 27 calls, with 18 going against the White Sox. Umpire Scorecard listed Segal at 89% accuracy, compared with a 94% average. Segal’s season accuracy ranked sixth-worst among qualified MLB umpires, and other lower-accuracy umpires had called fewer games.
