Seiya Suzuki Gets (Mostly) Good News After WBC Injury, MRI
"So we did the MRI, he's got a strain of the PCL, part of his knee. Minor in nature. We're gonna treat it right now. See how he progresses through the weekend. And then that'll kind of determine whether an IL stint is necessary....I think, when he got back yesterday ... he's limping right now, that means there's probably some swelling in there...but he's going to continue activity, he's not being shut down right now."
"We got good news in reference to the MRI. Seiya will not be shut down, and will continue baseball activities as he can tolerate them."
Seiya Suzuki suffered a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) sprain during a slide in the World Baseball Classic. MRI results revealed the injury is minor in nature. Manager Craig Counsell stated the team received good news from the imaging and does not plan to shut down Suzuki immediately. Instead, he will continue baseball activities as tolerated, including playing catch, with progression monitored over the weekend. Whether an injured list stint becomes necessary will depend on how Suzuki responds during this evaluation period. Current swelling in the knee explains his limping, but the team remains optimistic about his recovery timeline.
