Knight's Value, Cherishing the Past, Plenty of Prospect Highlights, and Other Blackhawks Bullets - Bleacher Nation
"It's been a pretty incredible week at the United Center. It started on Monday night with Jonathan Toews' return and the incredible reception from Blackhawks fans. Last night, the Bulls beat the Celtics on a jumper with 0.2 seconds left and then put Derrick Rose's number in the rafters. At some point later this season, the Blackhawks will host a ceremony to formally induct Duncan Keith and Steve Larmer into the team's Hall of Fame. Who knows... maybe someday they'll put 28 where it belongs in the rafters, too."
"Watching the ceremony for DRose last night reminded me of how incredibly fortunate we are as Blackhawks fans. When Luol Deng pointed to Rose's banner and said "that's our trophy" I thought about how many teams with great, Hall of Fame players in the history of Chicago have nothing but a jersey retirement banner to show for their tremendous play."
Jonathan Toews returned to the United Center and received a strong reception from Blackhawks fans. The Bulls beat the Celtics on a jumper with 0.2 seconds left and retired Derrick Rose's number. The Blackhawks will formally induct Duncan Keith and Steve Larmer into the team's Hall of Fame later this season. Several Chicago greats—Denis Savard, Steve Larmer, Tony Esposito, and Keith Magnuson—have banners but no championships. Ernie Banks never played a postseason game and Ryne Sandberg never reached a World Series. The Bears have one Super Bowl (1985); the White Sox won in 2005; the Cubs won in 2016. Michael Jordan won six championships without losing in the Finals, and Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane achieved championship success.
