Extreme heat ails Reds' De La Cruz, M's Thornton
Briefly

During a series of MLB games on a hot Saturday, Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz and Seattle Mariners reliever Trent Thornton suffered from heat-related illnesses. De La Cruz vomited on the field but continued playing, even hitting a two-run homer. Thornton was helped off the field after 2⅓ scoreless innings due to a heat issue. The high temperatures of 92-94 degrees posed challenges, leading to multiple incidents, including an umpire suffering dehydration. Safety concerning heat conditions is becoming a growing concern in sports.
