"Drew Pomeranz served as the opener for the North Siders and retired the first two hitters before William Contreras lifted a home run just over the left field wall to put the Crew on top 1-0. The Cubs answered immediately against Jacob Misiorowski in the top of the 2nd with a solo homer off the bat of Seiya Suzuki that evened the score."
"Colin Rea took over for Pomeranz and pitched well until he gave up a go-ahead homer to Andrew Vaughn with two outs in the 4th to give Milwaukee a 2-1 advantage. Later in the frame, Daniel Palencia retired Joey Ortiz on a forceout with the bases loaded to keep Chicago's hopes alive. The Cubs mustered very little offense against a series of Brewers relievers, with their best chance coming with two and nobody out in the 6th, but that would go for naught."
The Cubs' season ended with a 3-1 loss to the Brewers in Game 5 of the NLDS after Chicago's offense went mostly silent in the second half of the season. Drew Pomeranz opened and surrendered William Contreras' leadoff homer before Seiya Suzuki tied the game with a solo shot in the second. Colin Rea pitched well but allowed a go-ahead two-out homer to Andrew Vaughn in the fourth. The Cubs failed to capitalize on a two-on, none-out rally in the sixth. Brice Turang added an insurance solo homer in the seventh, and Abner Uribe closed out six outs to secure the win.
