"Del Mastro, 23, has been playing some of his best hockey of late and can play either side on the blue line. He could be an option to help the Blackhawks' penalty kill on the right side - if he's in the lineup."
"The Blackhawks still have Kevin Korchinski on the NHL roster, and could have Wyatt Kaiser back as soon as Friday when the Hawks host the bottom-feeding Canucks a few hours after the NHL Trade Deadline. And, right now, Matt Grzelcyk - who is on a one-year, $1M deal and could also be traded at some point - is the only defenseman on the roster older than 24."
Following the trade of veteran defenseman Connor Murphy to the Edmonton Oilers, the Chicago Blackhawks recalled 23-year-old Ethan Del Mastro from their AHL affiliate Rockford. Del Mastro has been performing well recently and can play either side of the blue line, potentially providing penalty kill support on the right side. His roster spot remains uncertain given the Blackhawks' existing defensive depth, including Kevin Korchinski and the potential return of Wyatt Kaiser. Matt Grzelcyk is currently the only defenseman over 24 years old on the roster. Additionally, the IceHogs signed left-handed defenseman Brayden Hislop to a professional tryout agreement.
