Ayo Dosunmu Breaks Free From Billy's Restricting Offense

Ayo Dosunmu was traded from the Chicago Bulls to the Minnesota Timberwolves in February, moving from a team where he averaged 15 points on 45% three-point shooting to a different offensive system. Under Billy Donovan's rigid approach in Chicago, mid-range shots were essentially prohibited unless the shot clock was expiring, limiting players to threes and layups. In Minnesota's more flexible system, Dosunmu has embraced mid-range opportunities, taking 12 mid-range shots in 15 games compared to only four in 45 games with Chicago. Playing alongside screen-setter Rudy Gobert creates additional spacing that enables Dosunmu to operate effectively in the mid-range, allowing him to unlock a previously restricted aspect of his offensive game.
