2026 NBA Draft: Bulls Can't Stop Trading for Second Rounders
"The Chicago Bulls have a problem. An addiction. An addiction to... the second round of the NBA draft. And it's gotten bad. In the days leading up to the trade deadline, the Bulls traded just about everything they had - and, in the process, added nine (9!) second-round picks. That brings their future total to fourteen (14!) second-rounders, two of which are in the 2026 NBA Draft. Enough to build an entire roster made up exclusively of second-round picks."
"I wish. I genuinely hope that, if Michigan junior Aday Mara is available, the Chicago Bulls take him. He fits exactly what the Bulls lack: size and defense. No, literally-he leads the Big Ten in blocks per game. And, oh yeah, he's 7-3. This season, the 21-year-old is averaging 11 points per game, seven rebounds, and three blocks a night on one of the best teams in the country."
The Chicago Bulls traded many assets before the trade deadline and acquired nine additional second-round picks, raising their future total to fourteen, including two in the 2026 NBA Draft. The accumulation creates a surplus of mostly low-value selections and a need to maximize the two 2026 picks. Ideal target Aday Mara, a 7'3" Michigan junior, leads the Big Ten in blocks and averages 11 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks per game; he offers size, defense, mobility, footwork, glass-crashing, and rim-running potential for a paint-focused, double-big system, though his long-term translation remains uncertain. JT Toppin of Texas Tech is presented as a more realistic option.
