Carolina suffered its first postseason loss. In IIHF World Championship Group A action in Zurich, Finland defeated Latvia 7-1, with Anton Lundell scoring and Aleksander Barkov adding an assist.

Lundell scored on a two-man advantage 58 seconds into the third period. It was his third goal, and fourth point, of the tournament. He played 18:57, registered three shots on goal, and won six of his nine draws. Barkov drew the secondary helper on Lundell's goal."
