"Browning served as the Bengals' backup quarterback for the bulk of the last three seasons. His most notable stretch came in 2023 when he stepped in for an injured Burrow and helped Cincinnati win four of its final seven games."
"In that stint, Browning struggled. Following a win in Week 2, Browning sputtered the following three weeks. He completed 64.8% of his passes for 771 yards, six touchdowns, and eight interceptions."
"The Bengals made a switch ahead of Week 6 and acquired Joe Flacco via a trade with the Cleveland Browns. Browning finished the season as the team's No. 3 quarterback."
Jake Browning, 29, will become a free agent after the Cincinnati Bengals declined to tender him as a restricted free agent. Browning served as the Bengals' backup quarterback for three seasons, starting 10 games total. His most significant contribution came in 2023 when he started for an injured Joe Burrow and helped the team win four of seven games. In 2025, Browning again filled in for Burrow due to a turf toe injury but struggled, completing 64.8% of passes with six touchdowns and eight interceptions over four weeks. The Bengals subsequently acquired Joe Flacco and moved Browning to third-string. Despite not tendering him, the Bengals remain open to bringing Browning back.
