Birmingham Barons achieved a 7-5 victory over Biloxi Shuckers with strong offensive plays, including a three-run homer by Jacob Gonzalez. The Barons built a balanced lead, with Wilfred Veras and Jacob Burke also contributing. Star pitcher Jake Palisch had a quality start, while the bullpen maintained the lead against a late comeback attempt from the Shuckers. In the other game, Greenville Drive edged out Winston-Salem Dash 2-1 with a dramatic walk-off single, despite the Dash hitting eight times and struggling to score consistently.
Jacob Gonzalez launched a three-run round-tripper in the top of the first, giving the Barons a quick 3-0 lead. They continued to extend their advantage.
Ryan Galanie then knocked a game-changing two-run dinger in the seventh, giving the Barons a 7-2 lead. Despite the Shuckers mounting a late comeback attempt, Zach Franklin closed out the ninth by striking out the side.
The Dash managed only one run despite collecting eight hits and were just 1-for-8 with RISP. Their lone tally came in the sixth inning.
The armbarn, including Nick Altermatt and Phil Fox, continued to limit the damage, holding the Drive scoreless until the bottom of the ninth.
