What to know about new Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Andrew Vaughn

Andrew Vaughn joined the Milwaukee Brewers after being traded from the Chicago White Sox. In his first game, he hit a three-run home run, leading to a 9-1 win against the Dodgers. Vaughn has a strong record of 77 home runs over 2,200 at-bats in his White Sox career. He played briefly at Class AAA Nashville after the trade. Originally drafted third overall in 2018, Vaughn won the Golden Spikes Award for his exceptional college performance and stands 5-foot-10 at 27 years old.
Vaughn's first at-bat with the Milwaukee Brewers provided a jolt of early summer drama when he hit a three-run home run in the Brewers' 9-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 7.
Vaughn made the Opening Day roster with the White Sox in 2021 and hit .235 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI. He hit 57 home runs over the next three seasons, including 21 in 2023, when he also drove in 80 runs.
The Brewers sent Civale to the White Sox for Vaughn and then sent Vaughn to Class AAA Nashville.
Vaughn won the Golden Spikes Award, given to the top amateur player in the nation, as a Cal sophomore, when he hit .402 with 23 home runs.
