"They're playing a more stabilized version of baseball, and you can see [the young players] growing up and growing into these roles. We've got to pitch well to beat these guys; they're never out of it."
"'He's just dangerous,' manager Will Venable said of Montgomery. '[Montgomery] continues to put himself in good spots.'"
"Hits are contagious"
A.J. Hinch stayed up to watch a delayed Twins-White Sox game because he views Chicago as a different, more challenging team than earlier this season. The White Sox extended a six-game winning streak by beating the Tigers 7-5, with Andrew Benintendi's sixth-inning solo home run and Colson Montgomery's two-run homer in the seventh. Rookies occupied four of the top five lineup spots, including Edgar Quero, Kyle Teel and Montgomery. Montgomery finished 2-for-4 and contributed key RBIs. Hinch compared the Sox's development to other young cores he has watched and praised their growing comfort and responsibility.
