Alex Hinand, known as @the_bareback_contessa, hosts a unique dinner series called "Dinner with a Stranger" aimed at bringing strangers together through meals. Upon moving into a 1990s Chicago apartment, he faced a kitchen that lacked functionality but boasted good bones, including ample natural light. To enhance the space, Alex sourced furniture from Facebook Marketplace, opting for functional pieces like a cook cart and an island to maximize space while ensuring the room remains stylish and inviting for his gatherings.
The dinners are "an opportunity for eight strangers to break bread together," Alex explains, emphasizing the significance of connection through food, friendship, and conversation.
With only maybe a square foot of built-in cabinet space, I knew I needed to make it more functional," Alex says about the limitations of his kitchen design and his creative solutions.
