Fletcher, 28, was purchased from Triple-A Charlotte; in his first major-league game this season he doubled twice and scored twice, and he hit .206 with 17 homers and 68 RBIs in 105 games for Charlotte this year. Altavilla, 32, returned from a rehab assignment for a right lat strain, recorded the final two outs of the eighth for a hold while allowing one run, and is 0-1 with a 2.63 ERA and two saves in 26 outings. The White Sox optioned Jonathan Cannon and Tim Elko to Triple-A Charlotte to open roster spots; Cannon is 4-9 with a 5.67 ERA and Elko hit .134 with four homers and eight RBIs in 23 games.
