Game Thread: White Sox (50-88) at Twins (62-75)
Briefly

Chicago opened September with a win, collecting 12 hits in the previous game. Davis Martin makes his 21st start and carries a 4.03 ERA across 116 innings, but has a 4.58 ERA over his last seven starts. Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson makes his 18th start, is 5-4 with 84 1/3 innings and 71 strikeouts, and posts a 4.59 ERA and 1.423 WHIP. Woods Richardson has a 10.1% walk rate and a 19.3% strikeout rate, with a 5.15 FIP indicating potentially lower effectiveness. Kyle Teel has slashed .316/.400/.443 with a .824 OPS over the last month. Mike Tauchman will lead off, Colson Montgomery will bat cleanup, and recent call-ups Will Robertson and Bryan Ramos will bat near the bottom of the order.
Woods Richardson is making his 18th start of the season, and is 5-4 across 84 1/3 innings with 71 strikeouts. He has a 4.59 ERA and 1.423 WHIP, which backs up his brutal 10.1% walk rate as he allows way too many free baserunners. Woods Richardson's strikeout rate isn't super high in comparison to his walks at 19.3%, and his 5.15 FIP tells us that he might actually be slightly less effective than even his ERA is showing.
Teel has been on fire, and is slashing .316/.400/.443 with an .824 OPS over the last month, and he's also walked 10 times, tied with Miguel Vargas for the most in the same time frame. Teel will be rocking in the two-spot tonight while making the start behind the plate. Tauchman will continue to hold down the leadoff spot, while Colson will be the clean-up hitter batting fourth - definitely not a bad place to be when you can't stop mashing homers.
