At least two dead after tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds pummel central US
Briefly

Severe storms impacted the central U.S. on Sunday, resulting in at least two fatalities: one in Valparaiso, Indiana due to a tipped tractor-trailer from crosswinds, and another involving an Amish buggy in Middlebury. The storms affected regions from lower Michigan to Texas, resulting in over 70 tornado warnings and 400 storm-related incidents. This marked the second-most active day for severe weather this year. As of Monday morning, many residents were without power, and further severe weather was anticipated, including significant flooding in parts of Mississippi due to heavy rain.
Tragically, a man was killed in Valparaiso, Indiana, on Sunday afternoon when his tractor-trailer encountered severe crosswinds and tipped, according to Sgt. Benjamin McFalls with the Porter County Sheriff's Department.
This made it the second-most active day for severe weather this year, behind only March 14 when there were over 600 reports.
