American Airlines Just Announced New Routes to the Caribbean and Mexico-What to Know
Briefly

American Airlines has expanded its winter travel schedule from Chicago O'Hare International Airport, introducing new routes to popular vacation spots such as St. Croix and San Jose, Costa Rica. Additional flights will be added to existing routes in destinations like Cancun and Los Cabos, marking a significant expansion for the airline. Although the announcement was made on May 2, ticket bookings and flight schedules will not be available until May 5. The expansion also includes increased domestic routes, aiming to enhance access for travelers.
"As we get our first taste of spring in Chicago, we are already looking ahead to giving our customers a reprieve from the bitter Midwest winter with more than double the flights to popular vacation spots," Ben Humphrey, American Airlines vice president of Chicago operations, shared in a statement.
The new flight frequencies and added destinations are the biggest flight expansions for any American hub so far this year, according to the airline.
Passengers won't be able to book tickets or see the flight schedule until May 5, following the announcement on May 2.
The airline is also expanding its domestic route network from Chicago, which can provide access to more destinations for more travelers.
