Chelsea FC has successfully advanced to the knockout stages of the Club World Cup amidst harsh weather conditions and after debuting four players. They have earned approximately £28 million and are close to recouping their investment in striker Liam Delap, who has already made an impact with strong performances. Despite a setback against Flamengo, Chelsea secured wins against LAFC and ES Tunis. They are set to face Benfica next, with manager Enzo Maresca acknowledging the challenge ahead while expressing confidence in his squad's potential.
"Benfica is a top club, with a top manager and top players. It will be tough but we are in the 16 from 32 and we hope to be in the last eight," said Maresca.
"It's a great feeling, we needed to win and to get a goal is a special feeling," said Delap about his scoring.
Maresca added: "We expected the process to be quick with Liam because we know him and he knows us with the way we play."
Delap's deft touch and spin gave him space to cut inside and place his shot past goalkeeper Bechir Ben Said.
