Tesla's Cybertruck inventory has ballooned to over 10,000 unsold units, estimated to be worth around $800 million. Production of the vehicle is reportedly slowing down, highlighting ongoing struggles to attract buyers. In stark contrast, only about 6,400 Cybertrucks were sold in the first quarter. Complaints regarding quality, including mechanical failures and recalls, have hindered its appeal. Additionally, political outrage surrounding CEO Elon Musk exacerbates buyer hesitation. With a goal of 250,000 annual sales, Tesla is now projected to sell a mere 20,000 units by the end of 2025, far below expectations.
The Cybertruck has also been recalled a whopping eight times since it first started shipping to customers in late 2023, with major issues affecting almost every unit.
Tesla is nowhere near on track to match the amount of Cybertrucks it sold in 2024 this year, falling significantly short of previous promises.
