Tesla begins deliveries of its affordable Model Y Standard
"Tesla has officially started deliveries of the affordable Model Y 'Standard' less than three weeks after the company launched it on October 8. Following the loss of the $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit, Tesla launched the Model 3 and Model Y 'Standard' trims, both coming in at sub-$40,000 starting prices, but being stripped of many of the features that come in the 'Premium' configuration levels."

Tesla has started deliveries of the Model Y Standard less than three weeks after launching the trim on October 8. The Standard Model Y targets a sub-$40,000 price point alongside a Standard Model 3 following the loss of the $7,500 EV tax credit. The Standard trims remove many Premium configuration features to lower cost. Development of the affordable models has spanned over a year and ties into work on a new-generation platform linked to the Cybercab. Deliveries originally slated for November have begun earlier for some owners. The Model Y Standard includes updated exterior aerodynamics, a 15.4" touchscreen, textile and vegan leather interior, three color options, a covered glass roof, and a 321-mile range.
