Otokar will produce the conventionally powered Mercedes‑Benz Conecto city bus at its Sakarya plant starting September 2026 under a production agreement with Daimler Buses. Daimler Buses manufactured the Conecto at its Hoşdere plant in Istanbul since 2007, where Travego, Intouro and Tourismo are also produced. The Mercedes Conecto is a simple, robust and reliable city bus offered at a significantly lower price than the Citaro. The deal echoes Otokar’s 2020 production partnership with Iveco Bus for the Streetway range, which underperformed commercially. The agreement was signed on 11 September 2025 by Till Oberwörder, Süer İsmail Sülün and Aykut Özüner. Otokar intends to optimize capacity, expand production and strengthen its position as a top-five European bus manufacturer.
