MG enters the electric bus arena with the iEV12 debut at Busworld - Sustainable Bus
"MG - yes, that MG, the historic British marque known for its sporty cars - has officially stepped into the bus segment. At Busworld, the company unveiled MG Commercial, a new brand dedicated to commercial vehicles, marking its debut with an all-electric city bus concept and a matching electric chassis. The new MG iEV12, a 12-meter Class I e-bus, was presented as a concept vehicle."
"Developed in cooperation with Shanghai Sunwin Bus Company, also part of the SAIC Motor group (which acquired MG in 2007), the project involved the UK-based MG design department, blending European design sensibilities with Chinese industrial expertise. At least, this is the aim stated by the company. While the iEV12 marks MG's first appearance in the bus market, the company emphasized that the project is still in the concept stage, and that the business model for the European market has yet to be defined."
MG Commercial launched the MG iEV12, a 12-meter Class I all-electric city bus concept, at Busworld alongside the MG B12E electric chassis. The project was developed with Shanghai Sunwin Bus Company and involved the UK-based MG design department, aiming to combine European design sensibilities with Chinese industrial expertise. The iEV12 remains a concept and the European market business model is not yet defined. The B12E chassis integrates Cell-to-Pack battery technology with a 140 mm pack height and 417 or 489 kWh total capacity. The bus supports opportunity and socket charging and features MG CITYGUARD driver-assistance and safety systems.
